The other list .. revisited

All that matters in life is knowing when one has been slightly diverted by a splendid freckly face. But more importantly why

Not that anyone any more is ABLE to tell their story...it seems.

So, one can never know. All that matters (to me..)

Only yesterday did i come up with reason number 3 why books are best.

Better than film, or even radio plays.

reason number 1.

Fact of life:

watch a  video talk, or even great movie  - i know the best! on socio politics, culture, philosophy etc., it  - the real subject material, goes in a BIT.

Listen to the same subject material on even Mister Bragg's superb programs https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qykl/episodes/player

In Our Time,

or the most superb of radio plays such as Souter used to write, and Mike Walker alone still can,  it goes in a fair bit MORE.

Read a book containing the same material, it goes in fully and stays in for life.

reason number 2

Imagination - horrendous bullshit UK education the last 20 + years .. the Harry Potty years...speaks of feelings and 'empathy' and all that. Bullshit. We only find empathy by LIVING through shit with people aside us living through shit. I developed the true real lifelong empathetic love for black people for example when in 2003 in a dusty hot gaolhouse for a few months  my best friend of all - whom i respected more than any other person there,  became Orlando from Ghana... an innocent man. Doing four years. With ONLY nobility. And a sincere and beautiful smile. Always.

But what is imagination for? A few years later as i write about in my pages in my name, i got laws changed especially a huge total legal cultural change via the 'child' aspect of secrecy because i alone IMAGINED it should be different. Even my own side ribbed me for being a fool to think i could. Because i had read so many great books of literature by 2003 i imagined the just and rightful out come. And held on no matter what to those outcomes. When all around me cynically undermined.  And i was only able to do that - because i had developed a good imagination, via literature. i am nothing special and had an extremely challenged moral compass in my teens and 20s, especially by the man from Morgan Stanley, who adopted me later on... and seemed to think it was good to train a man in his mid 20s to be a fraudster....

this i only figured last year.

But then yesterday a third reason maybe most important of all came out of the blue crystal clear.

Of course.

starting mid 20s with everything Thomas Hardy ever wrote, and having exhausted him, on to George Elliot...

Through eventually Edith Wharton, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yevgenia_Ginzburg who taught me something to this day is my mantra number 2

And others...all Perriam, all Wolfe (overrated  just as Wuthering Heights is) ,  all RACHEL CUSK! superhero ....  and in the last 5 years in fact ALL my favourite books except for Man Called Ove have been by women  - Faith Bleasdale Deranged Marriage - so wise, All early Wendy Perriam is extraordinarily brave and knocks pathetic Ian McKewan off his perch...then we have Mars Room - best book this century, For The Love of a Son - taught me everything i need to know of true sad  Islam stuff and their men, and of late even the astonishing satire of How To Kill Your Family...

BETTER FULL LIST TO COME VERY SOON.

That must not include Wuthering Heights and Jane Austen because, sorry, we have Mary's Frankenstein which clearly is one of the greatest books ever about humans always picking on someone not quite as their in group is...

And the radio 4 dramatisation 12ish years ago of her magnificent book simply was The Enlightenment drip dripping into my ears one evening when i had dozed off in a caravan living awwfff grid...in minus 20.... cos all the Guardian Reading tourists bought all the homes in the Hay on Wye region  for their second homes...or third...whilst no doubt over coffee and croissants in a cafe in that awful Theme Park (more EXPENSIVE women’s clothes shops than bookshops by far as of 12 years ago) saying " ohhh Henry did you see this article all the poor folk of The Marches can no longer afford houses now the Londoners bought them all   ...how terrible for them... oh yes so what time is our appointment at the agent's...and i do wish Kew Gardens would hurry up and  renew my car parking pass so i can do my morning yoga photo shoot and keep up with the best lookin’ insta influencers ...amazing what that new photoshopping program can do nowadays .."

The two aforementioned disaster turnings in fiction - Cathy defines herself by a truly mad man..lost to the drink wethinks too....  who doesnt read good books and just cares about looking like George Clooney..

it is not good to define yourself by, or die for ....a man... ever....And this picture in Wuthering Heights is not reality. I am quite sure the great majority of the non serf class even 175 years ago had ways of being just as powerful as their male  helpmeets...  rewriting history is never a good idea.

and frankly ditto in most of absurd Jane..

whereas George Elliot and to some extent Hardy  far far more had their women not goin nuts just cos of some family feud over money or the latest style n expensive sexy mans boots.. and being largely women one could look up to and certainly empathise with in intelligent ways ...as ones equal. specially Hardy's Bathsheba... fucks up...as we all do... then she recognises a REAL man with values...and they live happily ever after...sorry ..thats he most pro woman sane  book maybe ever..

At closing the last page of a great book by a woman, one is exactly equally taken on a great journey as when a man with his art does the same. Books are the great sex politics leveller reminding us it is all bullshit - those sex politics  - and i don’t refer to chopping off penises..i refer to ever since George Elliot and it matters not what name she had to write in especially when every fucker knew exactly who she was,  women  were the exact equal on man. And deserved exactly equal respect. Fully part of the Enlightenment and project to generally become modern. Period...or not..

And thus ... books must be above film.

Even if maybe one film did what few others can do, or set out to do, show us the superb fun of children.

Captain Fantastic.

As enjoying kids for real, is all that matters, ever....all human rights and modernity should flow from that

And i would like to know a few more films that do the same. Uncynically...

BUT... there is something deeper that LIVES within from item 3.

I have heard nothing but fey rubbish bullshit versions of 'feminism'  the last decade especially. And i listen to many an episode of Woman’s Hour... and Meghan and search fro her equals elsewhere.

It is all crap. Because all that matters is that if we - everyone, knows that women are exactly equally able to create the greatest of art/culture via the greatest of novels, as they have been able to for 200+ years...then they are exactly equal and are able to do anything a man can do with EXACTLY the same intelligence and skill.

Axe chopping aside where a woman is said to be able to manage about 90% of a man's muscle build...

but 90% is just fine..

Thing is also they should be held to 100% of the same standards of propriety in all walks of life be it false allegations or just sane communication without claiming false hurt.

THAT is what honouring these  equally great writers of the past in act is. Knowing no more argument. Behave...as they showed us how to...
